Great Escape II Fishing Charters

Fishing out of Destin, Florida, the Gulf has been producing some excellent offshore action lately. With warming water temperatures and steady bait movement, the bite has been strong across multiple species.

Our recent trips aboard the Great Escape II have been finding solid action on both bottom fishing spots and offshore structure. Anglers have been catching a mix of reef fish along with pelagic species depending on the distance offshore and conditions on the day of the trip.

Bottom Fishing

The reef and wreck fishing has been productive in depths ranging from about 120–300 feet. Several of our recent trips have produced good catches of:

• Red Snapper (when in season)
• Vermilion Snapper
• Triggerfish
• Amberjack
• Grouper species

High-relief wrecks and artificial reefs have been holding good numbers of fish, especially when there is strong current moving bait across the structure.

Offshore Pelagic Fishing

Longer trips running farther offshore have been producing exciting action on pelagic species. Recent catches have included:

• Blackfin Tuna
• Wahoo
• Mahi-Mahi
• King Mackerel

Trolling around temperature breaks and weed lines has been especially productive when the conditions line up.

What Trips Are Producing Best

While shorter trips can produce solid bottom fishing, the longer trips have consistently produced the best variety and size of fish.

Trips that have been performing especially well include:

• 12 Hour Offshore Trips
• 18 Hour Extended Offshore Trips
• 24 Hour and Multi-Day Trips

The additional range allows us to reach deeper structure and blue-water areas where larger fish are often found.

Conditions in the Gulf

Water temperatures have been steadily rising and baitfish are becoming more active around the offshore structure. When the weather allows us to run farther offshore, the fishing has been especially strong.

Calmer seas and stable weather patterns typically create the best fishing conditions, and the coming weeks should continue to provide excellent opportunities.
